Our Chromatography & Mass Spectrometry Lab is equipped with three types of chromatographs and sample preparation instruments: ion exchange chromatographs (IEC); liquid chromatography (LC); gas chromatographs (GC).
IEC separates the components of a mixture based on their charge. Positively (cations) or negatively (anions) charged ions are separated using different stationary phases and different pH mobile phases.
Reagent-free IC technology with eluent generation. Detection is done with conductivity detector (CD) and VWD UV- Vis detector. Simultaneous detection of cations and anions in liquid samples. Cr (VI) ions can be detected in low concentrations using post column derivatization technique.
Simultaneous analysis of anions (chloride, fluoride, bromide, iodide, nitrate, nitrite and phosphate) and cations (alkaline and alkaline earth metal ions) in the mg/l (ppm) range; Detection is done with a conductivity detector (CD).
In HPLC the mobile phase is passed through the column using high pressure and the components of the mixture are identified by a detector as it is eluted from the column.
Up to 2 mL/min flow rate supporting up to 100 Mpa (15000 psi/1000 bar) back-pressure for column format and column particle size flexibility; Manage backpressure and fine tune resolution with column heating and cooling from 5°C up to 110°C; Detection: DAD-3000 RS Rapid Separation Diode Array Detector. Data Collection Rate 200 Hz; Detection Mode UV-vis Detection (8 Channels). Applications of Liquid Chromatography: Environmental analysis and cleanliness testing. Food analysis and quality control Pharmaceutical industries and chemical industries. Forensic science and hospitals.
In GC the mixture of interest is vaporized and carried through a stationary phase (usually a metal or glass separation column) with an inert gas, usually nitrogen or helium. Larger molecules in the mixture take longer to pass through the column and reach the detector at the far end.
Quantitative analysis of known individual compounds present in the sample. Detection is done with a Flame Ionization Detector, MDA: 2 x 10-12 gC/sec.
Triple-quadrupole GC-MS/MS system provides an extra selectivity required for trace analysis of compounds in complex matrices. Limit of detection is 1 ppb. Sample Injection type: liquid sample injection and headspace sampling.
Chromatograph-based analyzer with FID/DTP/DTP detectors for determination of С1-С8 hydrocarbons, benzene, toluene, helium, hydrogen, oxygen, methanol in various gaseous media.
It performs an automatic extraction of compounds from solid and semisolid samples. Matrices that can be extracted are soils, sludges, sediments, plant and animal tissues.
It is an automated solid-phase extraction (SPE) system used for large sample volumes (20 mL–20 L) to isolate trace organic compounds in water or aqueous matrices. The compounds of interest are trapped on SPE adsorbents (cartridges), then eluted with strong solvents to generate extracts ready for analysis.
It instrument is used to achieve accurate concentration. It can be used either to dry samples completely or to concentrate them to a small volume.
